FAQs
-
What does original condition mean?
Some books (particularly ones with soft covers) are easily damaged. In order to receive a full refund for a new textbook, your book must be in brand new condition, without bent corners, any marks on the cover or inside the book and without the binding being broken. Removing the shrink wrap of the package may result in a refund being denied (see below) so be sure you want to keep it before you open it! -
I bought a used textbook. Can I still return it for a refund if I am
within the 21 days?
Absolutely! Unless there are pages falling out of the book, used books are the most straightforward item to return because condition is not an issue. -
I removed the shrink wrap on the package I bought and now I want to
return it. Will this be a problem?
Many packages contain books with CDs, pincodes or software that will make the package non-refundable if it has been opened. However, we recommend that you bring in the item (with all of the contents) and ask one of our frontline staff to assess the situation for you. -
I lost my receipt. Can I still get a refund?
The receipt you were given is your proof of purchase, so we need it to process any returns. Instructors can change, we can make mistakes or you can change your mind about a courseall of these are just a few of the reasons to keep your receipt!
Return policy instructions - online/pick-up in store orders
If you need to make a return for an online order for which you chose “Pick up in store”
as your shipping option, please ensure that you bring your receipt along with the item you
wish to return to your campus Bookstore. Your receipt will be the final email we sent you
when your order was processed. We will process your return in-store. All returns are
subject to our Return Policy.
Include the packing slip and receipt (receipt can be reprinted on the order
history page) with your return. Repackage your item(s) in the original
packaging or in an appropriate cardboard box. Using packing material (e.g.
Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, etc) around your item(s), pack and tape your
package securely. Select a carrier that offers you the option to insure and
track your package. UPS, FedEx, and Purolator all offer this option.
Insuring and tracking your package protects you as the shipper and helps
ensure your shipment goes to the correct destination in the same condition
it was as when you sent it. Write down your tracking number and keep it
until Camosun College Bookstore has refunded your money.
Arrange for a carrier to pick up your package or drop it off with the
carrier. Shipping is the responsibility of the customer and is not
refundable, unless due to our error. No credit is given for lost or damaged
packages in transit. Please insure and track your package. Returns to
Camosun College Bookstore will be refunded to the original credit card or
account used for payment unless a different payment option was selected. A
refund will be posted to your credit card or account once your return is
received and processed. Processing times for returns vary, and may take up
to 30 days from the day the return is received for a credit to be
transmitted to your credit card or account. It normally takes 2-10 business
days for financial institutions to process the transmitted credit request.
Packing list and receipt must be included with each return. Returns missing
this information can not be credited. If the return is due to our error all
shipping charges will be refunded to the original credit card or account
used for payment.Return policy instructions - online orders
Locker rentals
Looking for a secure place to keep your stuff?
The Bookstore has lockers for rent!
When you come to the Bookstore to arrange for your locker rental, you'll need to bring:
- Your Student ID
- Your phone number and email address (if you have one)
- An idea of where you want your locker (which building? which floor?)
The monthly locker rental fees are:
- Full size - $8.50 / month
- Half size - $6.50 / month
- Third size - $5.50 / month
We provide the lock with a $5 deposit, which you get back when you return the lock at the end of your rental period.
Locker request and change policy
If the Renter requests a specific locker at the time of the rental booking, we will be pleased to assign it if the locker is available. If the Renter wishes to change a locker location that was specifically requested, we will be pleased to do to our best to accommodate. The cost to do so will be equal to the first month's rent.
back to topDonations
While we like to support as many student activities and charity fundraisers as we can; however, we have a limited budget for donations ($500 worth of retail products p.a. plus supplier samples). Due to the large volume of donation requests we receive, we have developed the following policy:Camosun College Bookstore will consider donating retail products to organizations that are a direct part of the campus community. This would include student, staff and faculty organizations that are involved in not-for-profit activities that enhance the aims of Camosun College.
Typically we will give first consideration to activities that support the greater student community rather than a small interest group. For example, a campus-wide initiative will receive more consideration than a request which only benefits a small number of students.
High schools promoting an activity that encourage students to attend Camosun College may also be considered eligible for consideration.
How to apply
Every donation request must be accompanied by letter or email giving as much information about your organization and event as you can. Please clearly explain the nature and purpose of your event in order to help us determine whether or not we can make an appropriate donation.
- Please designate one point of contact within your organization for coordinating the donation.
- Please let us know how our donation will be acknowledged.
- Submit your request as early as possible. We request a minimum of 10 business days to consider and fulfill donation requests.
- There are no exchanges or refunds on donation items.
Please forward your requests by mail or to bookstore@camosun.bc.ca

back to topBike lock-up program
Camosun has a locked complex at the Interurban Campus for 18 bicycles available to any Camosun student or staff member. Camosun Bookstore administers the program. This is how the program works:1. Register and sign an agreement for rental privileges at the Interurban Bookstore.
2. A monthly fee ($5.50) must be paid to the Bookstore for rental privileges. This can be paid on a monthly basis or in one lump sum for a longer period of time (at the time the agreement is signed).
3. In exchange for this fee, you will be provided with an access code to enter the complex. This code will be changed regularly.
4. You will be required to provide valid Camosun College identification to the Bookstore staff at the beginning of each month to receive the new code.
5. The Bookstore will require the make/model/serial number of your bicycle when you sign the agreement.
6. The access code will be given only to those that have provided valid identification and that have paid their monthly fee in full.
7. The facility will be patrolled on a regular basis to ensure that only authorized users are gaining access.
8. It is your responsibility to ensure that a proper lock is being used on your bicycle inside the facility.
9. This service is offered on a first come - first served basis.
